Are Our Seasons Shifting, or Is It Just Me?

Something feels off about the seasons lately. Not dramatically, but just enough to make me pause and wonder.

Has There Been a Movement in Seasons?

I am wondering if there has been a shift in seasons, or is it my wild imagination. I have lived in Hyderabad for most of my life and so can tell of this place only.
Since my childhood, March is when summer used to start. Whether officially called so or not, March is when I used to face quite hot times. April and May are the months when heat used to peak and become unbearable. June would taper down, and July is when the full-blown rainy season would start.

Nowadays, I mean the past few years, my wife and I both feel there has been a shift. During March, I was still facing colder nights. Days were less intense, with heat appearing only for a day or two. I wondered if we would have a milder summer, even though I had predicted the opposite based on how severe the winter was.

Come April, there are a few hot days, but not consistently every day being severely hot. Now in the second half of April already, other than when June is somewhat hot, it is not actually that hot

But having said that, generally speaking, the summers in the past few years were hotter than what I recall, and winters severely cold. I see that May and June have been quite hot in the last few years, and I recollect that I complained long in July also—it was so hot. July had to be when it is monsoon.

So I am wondering if there has been a shift in seasons by two or three weeks at least. And overall, summers are hotter and winters far more chillier.

One could blame it on increasing deforestation, polluted air, ozone layer depletion, increased trends of burning fuels, and what not. And somewhere along, a study comes up stating this phenomenon is a natural one and repeats every few hundreds of years and goes back to a ‘normal’ state. Global increases in temperature and consequent rise in sea levels with Arctic ice melting apparently is an often repeating natural cycle.

I do not care perhaps.

All that is consequential to me is just as it is so in so many parts of the world, I should also have a separate set of clothes for summer and winter even here in Hyderabad!

Growing up, I never had a need for winter clothing, even in Delhi during my college days. But now, even for a place like Hyderabad, I am observing the need is changing.

Anyway, is it only me who finds this shift in seasons, or others have too?
